Waking up to be a Vanderbilt, or descendant of (like Anderson Cooper!) would sure be nice, would it not? Then again, more money…more problems, and upon basking in the glory of their fine residences Bellevue Avenue you have to wonder, what’s the upkeep on that? Newport, Rhode Island though, old money and all, was an incredible getaway for Stephanie, and the chance for us to step back in time and play a little, “what if?” What if I made enough money to afford the upkeep on that home? What it…what…if…

Cross Section LA: #BlackFriday Style Scarcity on Rodeo

We usually don’t leave the house on Black Friday, but we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see some of LA’s fashion gold-diggers out in force. Unfortunately for us, we forgot to charge the camera before leaving home.

Here are just a few shots of what we saw on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills before the power died.

We totally dug the style of both of these young ladies. This is the second time we’ve seen that all-studded snapback around LA, which we’ll say is signalling an upcoming trend. We found a few online retails such as Filthy Magic that are selling these here in the States. Prepare for everyone to be sporting this look as soon as Forever 21 or Urban releases it.

Cross Section LA: LA Street Style Week in Review

This week we started a new idea to trek around to different Los Angeles locales that are known for having our most stylish residents pass through. Weather wise the week started out a heater, and then cooled down threatening rain, which we think lead to clothing confusion as we saw so many dressed for the Alps on 80 degree days!

We’ll call it fashionable battle royale between knits, scarves and beanies versus summery sun dresses, skirts and daisy dukes.

Another visual lesson from our trip around town was retail seemed to be doing (or not doing). How interesting it was to see Rodeo Drive on any day of the week with very few patrons? We also holed up on Robertson and Melrose and didn’t catch a single fashionista! Whereas 3rd Street Promenade and Downtown were all teeming with fashion finds.

For whatever reason these are the images of the week that we found to be most visually interesting. No captions. No analysis. Just the faces of LA. What do you think?

Cross Section LA: Rodeo Drive’s Bipolar Temperature Tantrums

We guess how LA decides to dress is as bipolar a thought as the weather around here tends to be. Today’s evidence, Rodeo Drive, which seemed to have a stylistically odd vibe about it today.

This bipolar nature must come from that internal struggle we all feel when unpacking our favorite chunky sweaters. You know those ones that wrap around you like a warm bear hug? …and yet it is 80 degrees out and even the shade is sweating.

Unlike yesterday’s trek to Downtown we did see a good selection of those dressed “weather appropriate” versus those bundled up from head -to-toe.

Here are the Wintery, Summery and Stylish looks from today. You be the judge.
