…and so I make my way back to the arena where I was first baptized in couture…Fashion Week.
Five years ago I made my first round to Miami Fashion Week in the summer of 2009, and then New York Fashion Week in the following fall. They were night and day to each other, Miami being this week long retreat of designers, press and South Beach party-goers to New York’s high-fashion, high-fuel gauntlet of shows. These experiences are what made me hunger for the imagination of design, and the beauty of presentation…I just so luckily happen to be The Blogger Boyfriend, and when Stephanie went on assignment, so did I go with her…and I went outfitted for the fashionable urban jungle. Meow.
Good fortune has allowed me to be able to work with different brands through the creative partnership between The Blogger Boyfriend + Honey & Silk. To get outfitted properly for NYFW I wanted to express myself, express the California laid-back lifestyle, and of course be appropriate for the pace and grunge of New York City. Keeping this in mind the partnerships I chose were Combatant Gentleman + Kennington Man, both CALI brands, and comprised almost 100% of what I wore to fashion week.
Combantant Gentlemen: You haven’t heard? I must admit when their marketing guy told me Combat Gent was Brooks Brothers quality at Old Navy prices I was more than skeptical, I straight scoffed. I’m a fashionable guy, so I respect quality, but I’m also a guy…so comfort and price are often first and foremost in my mind. I picked a suit and other essentials that I knew would take me from day to night, runway to after party, and take up as little space in my carry on as possible, and I can tell you with absolutely certainty, CG lives up to the hype. Combatant Gentlemen gets TBB 100% approval and endorsement. The wool quality in the suit that you would expect to pay $500+ for, the materials and form in their dress shirts that keep them from looking or feeling Men’s Wearhouse…and KNIT TIES GALORE! As CG expands their offerings I can honestly say I’m not sure if I need another clothier.

Kennington Man: If you follow TBB at all you know I live in Kennington. I chose to bring Kennington with me to NYC because it was the perfect way for me to stay comfortable and true to my CA style, but I also imagined their incredible patterns as the perfect partner to the suiting options I had been dreaming up with CG.
